چکیده مقاله:

Introduction: Teucrium polium (TP) is a plant which its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties has been widely reported. In the present experiment, effect of hydroalcoholic extract of TP on skin wound healing in rats is investigated. Methods: 30 wistar rats randomly divided in 3 equal groups as follow: control (saline), 50 and 100 mg/ml of TP extract. One day after wounds induction, they were locally applied with saline (control), TP 50 mg/ml, or TP 100 mg/ml, accordingly. Wound areas were measured on days 1, 5, 9, 13 and 17. Data were analyzed using ANOVA for repeated measured data. Results: Wound area between control and both doses of TP extract was significantly different at 9th (P<0.005), 13th (P<0.005) and 17th (P<0.001) days. Wound healing percent between control and both doses of TP was also significantly different at 5th, 9th, 13th days (P<0.001), and 17th day (P<0.005). Furthermore, a significant different was shown between control and TP doses in the duration of complete wound healing (P<0.001). Conclusion: hydro-alcoholic extract of Teucrium polium accelerates skin wound healing process and decreases the duration of complete wound healing.

The Effect of Dietary Polyunsaturated Fatty Acid on Skin Wound Healing in Chronic Diabetic Rat

The potential role of omega – 3 (ω-3) and omega - 6(ω-6) fatty acids on wound healing is of interest and controversial. In the present study, the effect of dietary intake of fish oil (ω-3 diet ) and corn oil (ω-6 diet) on skin wound healing has been investigated in rat. This experimental study was performed on four groups of male rats (one normal group and three diabetic groups). Diabetes was i...
